My Son, Michael Stallings, has always been involved in Mustangs since he was a teenager. He is a friend of Dan at ProDyno.
I, on the other hand, have always been into old Chevy trucks having owned then since I was in my 30's. About 3 years ago, my Son bought a new GT Mustang and I owned a '65 C10 Custom truck that was in great condition.
Mike suggested that I get rid of the truck and consider getting a Mustang so we could hang out more (even living 2 hours a part) together in a hobby we both enjoyed. Well it is not everyday, your 35 year old Son expresses interest in spending more time with his Dad so I immediately put the '65 Chevy on the market and started looking for a Mustang.
I was leaning toward a new edge due to the more interior room and comfort level. Mike had always been in love with the Foxbodies so he ran across an add in a local newspaper for a '93 triple white Mustang in Martinez, GA. Mike, my Son, lives in Beech Island, SC and I live in McBee, SC (near Darlington).
My wife and I went down to look at 2008 Mustang at a dealership in Martinez and Mike called us and told us we might want to look at the Fox. My wife and I liked the Fox and made a deal on the spot to get it at a very good price. It was a high mileage car but otherwise in very good condition. My wife fell in love with the Fox (white is her color and it is a triple white).
MOD LIST:
Well since my wife, Angela, like the Fox so much, she took it and the sale of the '65 brought us enough money to buy it and maybe enough for a new edge if we could find one at a good price so the search was on for another Mustang. I did find a black (my color) with red stripes 1997 GT in Florida.
Angie and I made a trip down and we bought the '97 and brought it back to SC. Now we had 2 Mustangs and got into the car show scene with my Son and joined the SC Wildhorses Mustang Club. Now, how about the Mach 1.
The Fox and the GT were both 5 speed cars and our other vehicle was a Ford SportTrac that was also a 5 speed car. I had been putting off having a left knee replacement for about 4 years and in the early summer of 2014, it got to the point I could not put it off any longer and scheduled knee replacement in October.
We had no vehicle I could drive with the left knee being replaced for at least 3 months. My wife begin to search for an automatic transmission vehicle and unknown to me, she was looking for a Mustang for me.
She sent me a link the a car in Summerville, SC and it was a 2003 Mach 1 (black of course). Now it was a high mileage car with about 150K so the price was attractive and not out of our range.
I got in contact with the owner and we traveled to Summerville the first week in August 2014. As soon as I saw the car, I fell in love with it.
I talked to the owner, checked it out from front to rear and took it for a test drive. As soon as I cranked the car and heard those MagnaFlow catbacks, it was even more music to my ears. I gave the owner a little to hold the car to the next weekend and we picked the car up the next weekend.
What caught my eye about the Mach was the striping. The OEM Mach has flat black striping and it does not enhance a black Mach in my opinion, but the striping had been changed to white on this one.
The white stripes in my opinion looked amazing even though I had to redo both the rocker panel striped due to some imperfections.
The Mach has won numerous car show awards including Awards of Excellence at Mustang Week, First Place awards at the Stampede in Myrtle Beach, and many local shows.
