FEATURED RIDE
2003 COBRA
CHIP PRICE'S
I purchased the car October 2014 from a guy in Kentucky off the internet. I wanted a 2003 cobra yellow and black convertible with as many mods as I could get. He delivered to me from Kentucky and the deal was as long as it was a nice as the pictures I would buy it.
It did look nice on the outside but opening the hood showed he was not a detail guy. Very dirty but I purchased it anyway. It was very loud. Borla stinger mufflers without cats. Strong gas smell after driving and was told that was because the cats had been removed. I had new high flow cats and FlowMaster muffler installed. The gas smell continued to come back.
A good friend of mine was looking over the car when he noticed the EVAC system was not connected. Simple vacuum connection and the gas smell was gone. I took the car to Dan at Pro-Dyno in January to get the tune checked, Just for a piece of mind.
It was the coldest day ever, 17 degrees that morning. I knew the numbers would be good because of the air temp. The first pull was 556 hp. I was good with than number and was ready for my car to get off that machine.
A little scared of the dyno. Dan said there was more. Next pull was 586 hp. He let it cool off and the third pull was 622 hp. I feel so much better about the tune now. I know it is a safe tune and I don't have to worry about that area of the car anymore.
The drive home was interesting and fun. 622 hp on a cold road was crazy. My first supercharged car in cold air. WOW. Third gear roll on would spin the tires. Crazy and I was loving it. During the winter months I got a little crazy with detail.
Lifted the car off the ground power washed the underside, removed the IRS, cleaned everything and installed H&R race springs, Polished the exhaust pipes, changed all the fluids trans and rear end, painted the bumper covers front and back, painted the hood both sides, replace the headlight and fog lights, replace the rotors and pads, replace the belts and idle roller, and replace the convertible top motor and cylinders with new hoses.
Next on my list of things to do is remove the Kenne Bell blower and return for a rebuild. It uses a little oil and I don't know how many miles are on it. It's a beast of a car to drive and I love the look. Been thinking about selling it because I taken it to a place where I'm scared to drive it anymore. It is so nice and clean I only drive it when I know it won't rain or I won't get caught in traffic. It's just a fun car to take out a rip up the streets...
